Saher’s Story: Turning Exploration Into Opportunity

by StreetWise Partners
April 1, 2026

Born and raised in New York, Saher grew up attending public schools while being raised by her mother and grandmother, who had immigrated from Ukraine. As an only child, she always felt a strong responsibility to support her family. Saher graduated in 2020 with degrees in anthropology and chemistry, initially planning to pursue medicine, only to realize medicine wasn’t the right path for her.

When the pandemic hit, PhD programs shrank, leaving Saher unsure about her next steps. After earning a Fulbright scholarship and spending a year and a half teaching English in South Korea, she returned to the U.S. ready to begin her career, but uncertain how to navigate the professional world.

“I was applying for jobs, and I just didn’t understand how to approach the process,” Saher recalls. “I didn’t even know what some of these job titles meant.”

While searching for guidance through her college career resources, Saher discovered StreetWise Partners and joined the Winter 2025 cohort. Through the program, she was paired with mentor Madeleine, who helped her approach her career search with curiosity and strategy.

Saher took full advantage of the experience. “I talked to every single mentor that was part of the program,” she says. Through coffee chats and informational interviews, she explored industries ranging from finance to technology while learning how to build relationships and ask the right questions.

Those conversations eventually led her to advertising technology and programmatic media. Shortly after completing the StreetWise Bridge program, Saher secured a role as a Programmatic Associate at Havas Media Network, where she helps manage and optimize digital advertising campaigns.

Today, Saher continues to stay in touch with her mentor and is building a career she once didn’t know existed.

“Mentorship is about showing and demonstrating the tools. The mentors can show you how to patch the hole, and the role of the mentee is to figure out how to use the tool.”

You can open doors for someone like Saher. Become a mentor today.
