Amir’s Story: Turning Big Dreams into Focused Action

When Amir moved from Iran to the United States last year, it wasn’t a new culture or language that overwhelmed him. It was the realization that he could pursue any dream: civil engineering, tech, or something else entirely. Navigating that possibility while aligning his past experiences with future goals felt like solving a complex puzzle.

“I came to the U.S. with very big dreams, and I was very confused.”

With a background in civil engineering and emerging tech skills, Amir needed guidance to connect his two strengths and chart a clear path forward. He pursued a wide range of opportunities in engineering and tech, but initially received little feedback.

A friend recommended StreetWise Partners, and Amir was amazed. “It seemed like some heavenly thing. So many people volunteer their time for you to utilize.”

His mentor, Jacob, offered him a turning point. “[He] told me, ‘Amir, you are spreading yourself too thin. You need to focus.’” That advice shifted his mindset. Instead of trying to prove he could do everything, he aligned his skills and ambitions with a focused goal.

StreetWise didn’t just help Amir refine his resume, it helped him build confidence and clarity. “StreetWise helps you talk about who you are in a way other people can understand,” Amir says. Surrounded by peers “in the same boat,” he also gained lifelong friendships and renewed belief in himself.

Today, Amir works as an inspector at a consulting company in construction and engineering, a role that connects his childhood passion for safe structures with his broader career ambitions.

“It was surprising to me that I was able to accomplish this. I consider myself very lucky to have achieved it thanks to StreetWise.” he reflects.

You can be the turning point for someone like Amir. Become a mentor today and help transform big dreams into real opportunities.
