When Fernanda moved from Peru to New York City in 2019, she brought years of marketing experience and determination to continue growing her career. She knew that thriving in a new country meant learning the U.S. market, building a professional network, and finding the right opportunities to put her skills into action.

While exploring career resources, Fernanda attended a StreetWise Partners information session and was immediately drawn to the program’s structure, networking opportunities, and dedication to helping mentees succeed. “I loved the commitment and the regular structure of the program,” she recalls.

She joined the program in Fall 2019, and the workshops, community, and ongoing support gave her the practical tools and confidence she needed to pursue a career in marketing. Even after graduation, StreetWise stayed in touch and offered guidance during her job search through the early months of the pandemic. “Having that network reminded me I wasn’t charting this transition alone,” she says.

During the program, Fernanda was paired with her mentor, Simon, who challenged her to refine her goals, sharpen her marketing focus, and approach networking with intention. “One of the most important moments was our conversation about how to adapt to the evolving marketing landscape and position myself for long-term growth,” she says. His introductions to other marketing professionals also significantly expanded her perspective and industry connections.

“Mentorship is guidance and empowerment,” she says. “I feel proud of the journey I have taken and the community I’m now part of. Telling our stories isn’t just about looking back, it’s about showing others what can be achieved and encouraging them to pursue their own goals.”

Since completing the program, Fernanda has advanced from a marketing coordinator role to a marketing analyst position within the financial services sector. She returned to StreetWise as a mentor in the winter of 2024, and in June 2025, through a StreetWise connection, she secured her current role as a senior specialist at an innovative marketing agency.
