Annual Partnership Breakfast Showcases
Stories of Impact and Transformation
Last Thursday, 300 people joined our Annual Partnership Breakfast to witness our mission in action and raise funds to drive career mobility for our incredible job seekers. The theme of this year’s Breakfast was ACCESS; Because without access to role models, opportunities and professional skills, career success is not possible.
Sponsors and donations combined raised $400,000, set to change the lives of 550 more individuals next year.
The power of mentorship shone through stories of former mentees. Moustafa, who came from Egypt in 2015, went from a supermarket worker to the VP of Platform Engineering at Tradeweb. Kiara, a first-generation college student from a tough Brooklyn neighborhood, is now an HR Analyst at Blackstone.
We debuted a film about Denise. Her moving story from the favelas of São Paulo to a homeowner and certified project manager in the DC area emphasized the role of access that StreetWise and her mentors provided every step of her journey. She said, “I wouldn’t have made it here without the support of StreetWise Partners and my mentors. I’m really grateful and I can never thank them enough. They changed my life.” You can see the beautiful film below.
Honoring the work of corporate partners and mentors
We also recognized Gallup with the StreetWise Champion Award for their incredible 15-year partnership with StreetWise. Their commitment includes hundreds of volunteer hours, providing space for our programs, and offering invaluable access to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment. This powerful tool empowers our job seekers by helping them identify their strengths and effectively highlight them in resumes, elevator pitches, and interviews.
Jim Clifton, founder of Clifton Strengths and Chairman of Gallup, accepted the award on behalf of the company and he and his wife Susan. Jim shared,
“When StreetWise transforms a client through identifying their strengths—they have changed that individual so they can present themselves in a way 10X more valuable than before. We are so proud to be a part of the StreetWise mission—it is deeply profound and meaningful work and because of that, it transforms the lives of the mentees and job seekers you serve.”
