2011 Year-End Campaign
Daniela was struggling when she came to StreetWise Partners, working full-time for minimum wage with no benefits. Despite her hard work and a desire to create a better life for herself, Daniela felt that she was going nowhere. At StreetWise Partners, we know that a person with a job has a job for today; a person with a career has a future.
To build her career, Daniela needed more than desire; she needed real job skills and a network of support. As a StreetWise Partners trainee, Daniela displayed great motivation. StreetWise Partners provided the rest. For the first time in her life, Daniela gained the tools needed to set and achieve specific career goals; access to an extensive network of corporate professionals; familiarity and comfort in professional office environments; and the confidence to embark on a career path. By the end of our unique career development program, Daniela had obtained a salaried position with benefits. As an administrative assistant at a power company, she increased her annual salary by more than $8,000! By supporting StreetWise Partners, you invest in individuals like Daniela to help them build their own futures, their families’ futures, and the future of their communities.
Each year, 300 motivated, low-income individuals improve their economic well-being and launch their careers through StreetWise Partners programs. In New York City, Washington, DC, and Jersey City, NJ, more than 1,000 corporate volunteers annually are engaged in delivering the mission of StreetWise Partners, providing trainees with individualized job skills training, career mentoring, and job search assistance. Six months after graduation, StreetWise Partners alumni report an average income of $32,000—more than double the average income of trainees at the beginning of our program!
Since 1997, StreetWise Partners has served 2,000 individuals. We are as proud of our graduates and their career accomplishments as they are of themselves. As we prepare for our 15th year of transforming lives and impacting futures, our year-end goal is to raise $195,000. StreetWise Partners needs your support and investment in our motivated trainees.
