Adult Mentoring Program

SWP works with over 250 working professionals across New York City and the Washington, D.C. region, who motivate unemployed or underemployed individuals for a period of 14 weeks. We offer a structured course where you and another mentor would work with one mentee to develop their office skills, build confidence and provide networks to help them obtain a satisfying and sustainable job.By signing up to be a mentor you will have the opportunity to:

  • Give back to society through changing the life of the one person you mentor
  •  Network with other professionals in your field
  •  Look forward to your weekly Saturday mentorship program

Who: Motivated low-income individuals interested in learning professional office skills

SWP runs its core job-readiness programs twice a year for adults aging between 26- 55 years old.In each cycle we typically serve between 50-80 clients and 100 - 160 mentors. The core training sessions, developed with help from volunteer HR professionals, include computer skills instructions (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and periodic skills assessments, as well as goal setting, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, developing an “elevator pitch, informational interviews, workplace etiquette, and public speaking.


Young Adult Mentoring Program

StreetWise Partners runs its job-readiness and life skills program three times a year for youth participants aging between 18 – 25 years old. In each cycle we reach out to 15 - 20 young individuals and over 30 volunteer working professionals.Mentors will work with motivated low-income young adults who are looking to gain skills in computers (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), resume and cover letter writing, elevator pitch, interviewing, career planning and appropriate office etiquette.

Alumni Advanced Skills Training and Mentoring Program

StreetWise Partners is seeking volunteers who are interested in mentoring our graduates on a monthly basis. This program operates for 2 hours on one Saturday every month where the mentor is assigned two mentees and walks them through our various skills training, on the computer, or discusses various business skills relevant to the panel discussion that day: entreprenuership, money management, salary negotiation, etc. The mentor also provides perspective of real world experiences, career guidance and access to a network of contacts and support.
