Program Goal

Each StreetWise Partners trainee is individually matched with two mentors who provide them with personalized support and guidance. During the first three months, each trainee, supported by their two mentors, completes our weekly Career Ventures training, which covers career planning, resumes and cover letters, interviewing, public speaking and networking skills. At the conclusion of the Career Ventures program, each trainee creates a personalized Work-Plan which sets near and medium term employment goals. For the following nine months, the same two mentors provide their trainee with flexibly-scheduled ongoing support, in addition to our Continued Professional Development Workshops, to help their trainee overcome individual obstacles and achieve the goals of their Work-Plan.

Workplace skills

StreetWise Partners provides skills training in key areas, including SMART goal setting, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, elevator pitches, public speaking and networking.

Computer Training

StreetWise Partners also provides an optional basic computer class in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basic computer skills (comfort using PC’s) are required, and the individual will be responsible for accessing a computer to complete assignments.

Placement

StreetWise Partners provides job search assistance through networking opportunities, skills training and job search strategy coaching, but does not provide job placement services.
