Mock Interview Session Seeks to Bridge Divide for the Unemployed & Working Poor
StreetWise Partners (SWP), a national volunteer-driven nonprofit that helps to build skills for low-income career-seekers, will hold a Mock Interview Day on Saturday, December 1st, at the Gallup Organization offices in Washington, DC. Volunteer business professionals from area corporations – including Booz Allen Hamilton, Corporate Executive Group, Fannie Mae, and the World Bank – will join StreetWise Partners in an all-day effort to prepare more than 70 adults for new careers in the business sector.
Mock Interview Day is a critical component of SWP’s 15 week intensive career-building program for low-income adults. The interviews provide a unique, skills-building experience designed to create a hands-on, real world job interview environment conducted by top executives in the DC area who will play the role of “potential employers.”
Through employer exposure, career mentorship, and interactive training, SWP is unlike any other volunteer workforce development organization. Since 2006, StreetWise Partners DC has worked with 70 low-income individuals and more than 150 volunteers from more than 60 employers in the Washington, DC area, including Amgen, the Carlyle Group, Citigroup, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, and International Finance Corporation. Together with corporate partners like the Gallup Organization, SWP creates networks for change that enable motivated, low-income individuals to build skills for work and employment opportunities for life.
