SWP partners with DYCD's CAPITAL program

In March, StreetWise Partners volunteers led 2 workshops for over 200 of CAPITAL’s young adults. These workshops, which provided general job-training and industry pointers, marked the start of a planned partnership with New York’s Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD)’s CAPITAL program.

Below is a letter from the Deputy Commissioner, Suzanne Lynn, to StreetWise Partner’s Executive Director, Margaret Crotty:

Dear Ms. Crotty:

I want to thank you for connecting the Corporate Allies Program of Internships, Training and Leadership (CAPITAL) with StreetWise volunteers. Thanks to your incredible assistance, nineteen presenters referred by your organization spoke to over two hundred youth at the March 24 and 31 CAPITAL workshops.

Their presentations had a tremendous impact on the young people in attendance and will continue to influence them as they begin their successful careers. Youth described the workshop as “eye-opening, inspiring and memorable” and stated that they learned about inner-workings of the private sector that no one else has told them.

Once again, thank you for your time and assistance. As we continue to develop and enhance the CAPITAL program we welcome your expertise and look forward to a continued partnership.
