Mission and Goals

StreetWise Partners works with low-income individuals to overcome employment barriers, obtain better jobs and achieve economic self-sufficiency by creating deep mentoring relationships with volunteer business professionals.

Our vision is that one day all citizens will have the skills and opportunities to become economically self-sufficient and achieve their full potential.

• Provide effective and quality programs which support low-income individuals who face multiple barriers to employment to reach a place of self-sufficiency, on the path to a successful career
• Serve motivated people who have no other place to go for career advice / guidance and job search skills but who are driven to move forward in their career
• Level the playing field for members of low-income communities who don’t have exposure to a professional network to assist them in their job search, by giving them the opportunity to work with volunteer business professionals as mentors
• Eliminate the achievement gap between people’s potential and their current position
• Expose people to positive role models, and encourage them to become positive role models in turn for their families and for their community. Encourage trainees to believe in and appreciate the generosity of others to give up their time to help a total stranger to succeed
• Expose individuals to people from different cultures and backgrounds (both trainees and volunteers) to encourage a deeper understanding of our local communities
• Develop our trainees’ confidence and a belief in themselves and their abilities
• Empower people to make a positive change in their lives – both volunteers and trainees
• Enable volunteers to become better professionals and leaders in their own work by providing them with skills development and leadership opportunities
