    Karine Alyanakian

    Karine Alyanakian has been a mentor with StreetWise Partners for three rotations and joined the Junior Board in 2010. She recently ran the NYC marathon on behalf of StreetWise Partners. Karine works in the marketing group of Samson Capital Advisors LLC, a fixed income asset management firm based in New York. Her responsibilities include fulfilling client and advisor requests for firm, market, and portfolio information, preparing portfolio analyses and recommendations for prospective clients, and producing new business presentations. Prior to joining Samson, she was an Associate at Thomson Reuters doing investor relations consulting for public healthcare companies. Her responsibilities included day-to-day monitoring of clients' stock, determining target investors, and communicating with the buy- and sell-side for stock insight and perception. Karine received a B.A. in economics with a minor in mathematics from Cornell University in 2008.

    Brian Ballan

    Brian Ballan has been in love with StreetWise Partners since 2007, and is in his first year as a member of the Junior Board. He served two program cycles as a Mentor, two as an Officer, and two as Lead Officer of the PwC Saturday Adult Program where he developed a deep appreciation for the potential impact of the StreetWise Partners program. Brian has six years of experience in consulting and corporate strategy, spending the last four years with Citigroup focused, first, on Global Wealth Management and, later, on the legacy businesses within Citi Holdings during the extreme financial turbulence of the last few years. In April, he left Citigroup and is now working as a line cook at Buddakan NYC while he works with a friend to launch his hot sauce company, A&B American Style. He can be described as all-around awesome and, if you have the chance, definitely make it a priority to meet him.

    Robert Brink

    Rob joined StreetWise in 2008 and has been involved with many different aspects of the organization. As a mentor, he has volunteered for 3 cycles, and during that time has also served as a consultant to SWP on multiple issues, including strategies for improved mentee outcomes and data tracking. Rob currently works as an Associate Consultant at Easton Associates, a consulting firm focused on helping biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies better understand novel therapies and guide strategic business decisions. Before joining EA, he worked in Strategy and Business Development for Deutsche Bank PWM after completing his Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering at Cornell University. In his off-time, Rob enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking (or any combination of the three), competitive running and adventure races.

    Amelia Cason

    Amelia has been a mentor and officer for 5 program cycles with StreetWise Partners, and has spent two years on the Junior Board. Amelia has worked with the New York City public schools for the past eight years. First as a Cohort 5 NYC Teaching Fellow, teaching in East Harlem, and then responsible for the New York City K-6 Sales for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's School division. Amelia is passionate about Public Education reform and is involved in several related causes. Amelia graduated with Thesis Honors in Political Science and French Literature from the George Washington University and the Sorbonne. She has a Master's Degree in Education from Hunter College. Amelia is happy and excited to serve as Vice-Chair of this year's Junior Board.

    Steven Chung

    Steven Chung has been actively involved with StreetWise Partners since 2010 and became a Junior Board member in 2011. He graduated from NYU Stern with a degree in both Finance and Accounting and has since been working at Ernst & Young where he provides advisory services for financial institutions. Steven currently works in a specialized audit support team within Ernst & Young in which he values derivatives and performs tests for hedge effectiveness. During his free time, Steven enjoys staying active by participating in a wide array of sports from baseball and soccer to tennis.

    Kevin Doherty

    Kevin R. Doherty has supported StreetWise Partners, Inc. for several years, is a veteran Junior Board Member and also sits on the StreetWise Partners Development Committee. Kevin is an attorney at Blank Rome LLP and concentrates his practice on complex commercial and corporate litigation. He serves a wide range of clients in areas involving commercial disputes and arbitration, environmental/superfund matters, coverage disputes and counseling for policyholders. He graduated cum laude from Bucknell University where he received degrees in both economics and political science, studied in London, and received his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law where he was president of the Corporate Law Association. He is the recipient of a number of awards and scholarships and is currently admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, DNJ, SDNY, and EDNY. Kevin is a Hoboken, New Jersey resident and enjoys traveling, golfing, and cycling. As a seasoned member of several non-profit organizations he is an avid believer in the mission of StreetWise Partners.

    Steve Gabster chairs the Corporate Partner Development team and works with the board to cultivate new strategic relationships with DC metro area organizations. Steve is currently working as a strategy & operations consultant with Deloitte’s federal practice. He strives to improve decision-making and business processes in public, private, and non-profit organizations. Steve holds a B.A. in Political Science and Finance from Washington University in St. Louis.

    Scott Glowinski has been a member of the StreetWise Partners Junior Board since 2009. Additionally, Scott served as a StreetWise Partners mentor for two cycles and will begin his third cycle in Spring 2011. Scott is currently an investment banking associate with Cain Brothers & Company, where he focuses on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and financial advisory in the healthcare sector. Prior to starting his career at Cain Brothers, Scott received a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics from Penn State University. His interests include traveling, tennis, music/concerts, sailing, wine, and dining.

    Luke Guerrero

    Luke Guerrero is a current mentor with StreetWise Partners, joining the Junior Board in 2010. As a new board member, Luke brings a focus on strategic technology usage, results driven execution, and increased alignment with corporate sponsors. Professionally, he is a technology consultant for PwC’s Advisory practice, where he advises and executes for his Financial Service clients on matters of technology strategy and architecture. Internally with PwC, he spent two years abroad leading the construction and expansion for PwC’s Southeast Asia practice (SEAPAN) in the field of IT security integration services. He is also actively involved with the company’s inorganic and organic growth strategies, through merger integration work and recruiting efforts. Outside of PwC, Luke is a participating member in several of New York City’s entrepreneurial technology communities and is an avid golfer.

    Mona Hamra

    Mona is currently a Senior Advisor to the StreetWise Partners Junior Board. She has been actively involved with StreetWise Partners since 2007, where she served as a mentor for two cycles before being invited to the Junior Board. Mona devotes much of her time to volunteering with and serving on the planning committees of several non-profits. She has leveraged her more than 8 years of experience managing corporate relations in diverse industries to developing and directing innovative programs and campaigns for these organizations. In the past, Mona's skill in cultivating strategic relationships among executive management, clients, and business partners has been instrumental in securing multi-million dollar contracts. Mona also has a demonstrated track record for envisioning and effecting unique public relations initiatives and looks forward to continuing to use her corporate relations experience for the benefit of StreetWise Partners. On the lighter side, Mona is a travel enthusiast who enjoys cooking world cuisines (especially Mediterranean). She is fluent in French and Arabic and is currently learning Greek.

    Elizabeth Kanter

    Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth moved to NYC after graduating from Boston University. She started her career in Entertainment Public Relations, subsequently moving into the medical field. Elizabeth managed outpatient clinics for cancer patients at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and eventually coordinated and sold plastic surgeries for a private practice on the Upper East Side. Later, she found herself as a Director of her own recruiting desk, engineering career deals for companies and candidates. Ultimately, she found that she thoroughly enjoys spending her time now in the non-profit sector. This is her second year on the StreetWise Partners Junior Board after being a Mentor for two cycles and an Officer for one, as well as currently assisting with the Alumni Program. Last year, Elizabeth was a Co-Chair of the 4th Annual 'Go All In!' Poker Fundraiser. She has also been the Events Director for the largest youth-oriented political organization in the city, as well as the most active in America - The Manhattan Young Democrats - since January 2010, and has been involved with the group since the Summer of 2008. She is the incoming Events & Development Committee Co-Chair on the Associate Board at Gilda’s Club NYC, where she has been a Board member for two years. She has also spent time volunteering her knack for career guidance as a seminar leader, and English language skills partner in numerous partnerships, with international immigrants at The International Center in New York since 2007. Elizabeth loves the looks she gets from people with a random "ya'll" speckled into her conversations, the color of the sky when it snows, Britney Spears, sunflowers and her friends.

    Jeff Meyers

    Jeff Meyers has been involved with StreetWise Partners since 2007, serving as a mentor and officer in the organization’s Career Ventures Program and has been a member of the Junior Board since 2009. Most recently Jeff has helped facilitate the launch the monthly Alumni Workshops, which focus on providing graduates with ongoing soft skill development and job retention support. Jeff is currently an Associate in the Municipal Securities Division at Citigroup, where he focuses on structured lending and investment opportunities in urban markets around the country. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Jeff moved to New York in 2006 while an Analyst in the Debt Capital Markets group at Banc of America Securities, where he focused on clients in the real estate, gaming, and lodging sectors. He is active in planning the organization’s social activities and is an avid traveler and car enthusiast.

    Gideon Oppenheimer has been involved with StreetWise Partners for two cycles as a mentor and officer. He will continue to serve as an officer in the White & Case Career Ventures Program in the Fall of 2011. In his first year on the Junior Board, Gideon will be a member of the Corporate Partner Development Committee. Outside of StreetWise, Gideon is a consultant at Charles River Associates and holds a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University. He enjoys running, golfing, and skiing.

Currently, Bhavik works at Ziff Brothers Investments, where he focuses on Private Equity transactions in the Energy sector. Prior to joining ZBI, Bhavik worked at UBS Investment Bank as an Analyst in the Global Industrials Group. Bhavik graduated from Stern, NYU with a double major in Finance and Economics. In his spare time, Bhavik enjoys golfing, baseball, movies and ‘The Simpsons’.

In 2011, Keith joined the StreetWise Partners Junior Board. Keith is a Vice President at Dominick & Dominick LLC. At Dominick & Dominick LLC, Keith and his team create and implement customized strategies for wealthy families and institutions. Prior to joining Dominick & Dominick LLC, Keith spent over 6 years at UBS Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in their New York and Connecticut Private Wealth offices.

She holds a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University. Lisa has been a StreetWise Partners mentor for two cycles and joined the Junior Board in 2010.

    Erin Smith

    Erin Smith is pleased to join the 2010 StreetWise Partners Junior Board after four consecutive cycles as a mentor with the Saturday program at PwC. Erin is a proud 2007 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University (go Bobcats!), where she earned a B.S. in magazine journalism with specializations in history and political science. After impulsively moving to New York without a job (which her long-suffering parents optimistically termed an “interesting career choice”), Erin started her current job as a copywriter at Polo Ralph Lauren in 2008, writing merchandise copy descriptions and contributing content for RalphLauren.com and Rugby.com. A few of her finer qualities include baking, maintaining a perpetual positive attitude and always paying her library fines on time. She is well-known for (politely) correcting people’s grammar, laughing loudly and often, consistently arriving everywhere 10 minutes late and borrowing books from her friends for years at a time before finally reading and returning them unscathed.

    Tazia’s involvement with StreetWise Partners began in 2004. She has volunteered as a mentor in the PWC adult program for four cycles. In 2007, Tazia joined the StreetWise Partners Junior Board, of which she became Co-Chair for the 2008-09 term and then Chair in 2010. Tazia is a Vice President at Goldman Sachs where she works within the firm’s Markets Coverage Group providing cross-asset investment idea generation and execution for family offices, high net worth individuals, hedge funds and other institutions. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Tazia worked within Citigroup’s private bank, focused on business development, relationship management, and portfolio modeling. Tazia graduated magna cum laude with her B.A. degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Duke University.

    Taylor Stirek

    Taylor Stirek has been a mentor and an officer in the StreetWise Partners Wednesday evening Young Adult Program. Taylor moved to New York City from Las Vegas in 2000 to attend New York University. She earned a Bachelors in Art History in 2004 and a Masters in Media, Culture & Communication in 2007. She works at TPG-Axon Capital as a Research Assistant. Taylor is the current Manhattan Young Democrats President after serving as the Special Events Director of MYD in 2008 and as Secretary in 2009. Taylor is a Spring 2010 New Leaders Council Fellow and serves on the Advisory Board of the NLC New York Chapter. Additionally, she is the Social Media Director for The White Roof Project, a non-profit focused on painting black tar roofs white to curb energy consumption and cool down buildings during the hot summers. She currently lives in Astoria, Queens and has no free time, she wouldn't know what to do with it anyway! She is excited to work with the Junior Board of StreetWise Partners this year!

    Alex Urdea

    Mr. Urdea joined Solus at its inception in July 2007 and has been managing risk for the hedge fund portfolios since he joined Stanfield Capital Partners LLC in 2004. At Solus he leads a group responsible for developing and managing a proprietary system that integrates portfolio management, trading, risk, research, operations, legal, and investor relations functions. As such, his daily responsibilities include the monitoring of portfolio exposures and sensitivities while working to express the firm’s view in the most effective and efficient manner. In a secondary capacity, he also assists in the firm’s strategic marketing effort. While at Stanfield, Mr. Urdea was involved in managing risk for its hedge funds and structured products, including development of a proprietary arbitrage model to manage the firm’s synthetic CDOs. Prior to joining Stanfield, he was a Quantitative Analyst at Deutsche Bank working with the Credit Derivatives market making and proprietary trading desks since January of 2003. He began his finance career as an analyst in High Yield Fixed Income Research with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in 2001. He has also worked under the direct leadership of Jamie Lefrak at The LeFrak Organization, a real estate development and management company. Mr. Urdea serves as Chairman for the Investment Strategy Committee for the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), a non-profit finance-centered educational organization and local chapter of the CFA Institute. He was recently awarded the NYSSA Volunteer of the Year Award for his dedicated service to the organization and nominated to its Board of Directors. Mr. Urdea received a BSE in Financial Engineering from Princeton University in 2002 along with a Certificate in Finance and Engineering Management Systems. He was inducted into the Sigma Xi Research Society and served in several leadership roles. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and is currently pursuing the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation. Born in Bucharest, Romania, his family fled communism when he was at a very young age. He was raised in Oyster Bay, NY for most of his childhood years and currently resides on the Upper East Side with his wife Megan, an architectural designer. Mr. Urdea is an avid sailor, logging many hundreds of hours on the water on the Long Island Sound and Caribbean each year. He is also a very active cyclist, biking for pleasure around Central Park, participating in several century (100+ mile) tours and raising money for several charitable causes each year. He enjoys golf, tennis, and squash as well as hiking and kayaking. Finally, he is a resident member at the University Club in New York and Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club in Oyster Bay, NY.

    Andrea Vidler has been a mentor with StreetWise Partners for two cycles and is proud to have joined the Junior Board in 2010. Andrea brings private and social sector experience, with a focus on consulting and economic development. She is currently a Strategy & Corporate Development consultant at Towers Watson, where she supports mergers and acquisitions, business planning, and geographic expansion. Prior to joining Towers, Andrea completed an M.P.A. and B.S. at Cornell University and started her career in investment research at Goldman Sachs. Andrea hopes to eventually transition into the social sector and support the business development activities of a non-profit. She enjoys traveling, hip hop, road trips, ice cream, dancing, cafes, and snowball fights.

    Lauren Wolf has been a mentor with StreetWise Partners for three cycles and joined the Junior Board in 2010. Lauren currently works in the acquisitions group at the Hampshire Companies, a real estate private equity firm based in Morristown, NJ. Previously, she attended the Tuck School of Business where she obtained her MBA. Prior to Tuck, she was an investment banking analyst at Cowen and Company where she worked in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Group. Lauren received her Bachelors of Science from Brown University.
