About Us

StreetWise Partners provides an effective, free job training program for highly motivated people who face multiple barriers to employment. StreetWise Partners encourages people to think about their career, not just their next job, and provides the tools and support required to set and achieve career goals. Our one year program matches trainees with two business mentors who provide tailored support during the first three months of intensive weekly training followed by nine months of structured ongoing support. StreetWise Partners programs help level the playing field for people who don’t have the connection to resources that others do to advance their career.

Each trainee is individually matched with two volunteer mentors from professional backgrounds who provide them with guidance and personalized support throughout the year. During the first three month Career Ventures Program, the teams of three work together to help the trainee:

• Set short, mid and long term SMART goals
• Create a resume and cover letter
• Learn how to succeed in an interview and practice extensively
• Advance their basic computer skills, including preparing and delivering a PowerPoint presentation
• Discuss the professional etiquette required to succeed in a professional setting, and
• Develop a business network.

At the conclusion of the three month Career Ventures Program, each trainee will have created a personalized Work-Plan which sets near and medium term employment goals, often involving an educational component. For the following nine months, the same two mentors provide the trainee with flexibly-scheduled ongoing support tailored to help the trainee overcome individual obstacles and achieve the goals of the Work-Plan.
